Grilling season, otherwise known as summer time, is officially HERE!
Grills of all shapes and sizes are out in full effect.  Self-proclaimed grill masters are donning their favorite apron and pulling out the stainless steel grilling tools.  For the newbies, go into any hardware store and the overflowing grilling display greets you at the front entrance. Whether you are a beginner or expert, we have tips to help you get into the swing of grilling season.

FIRE IT UP

Preheat your grill.  Make sure there are no remnants from your last grilling session hanging around. Let the grill get HOT! Preheat for at least 10-15 minutes. A properly preheated grill will sear foods on contact, help keep the inside moist, and promote delicious caramelization. (And remember, it’s easier to clean your grill with a wire brush once its hot! ALWAYS start with a clean grill.)

NO FLIPPING

Don’t flip over!  You are not making pancakes! Throw out all of the flipping tips that your “grilling expert” family member has taught you.  The less times you flip a protein, the better! I know it’s tempting, but flipping only once is ideal for most meats.

DON’T SQUISH THE MEAT

Don’t press down on meats. I know you want to flip the hamburger 7 times, then press down on it, let all the juices run out, and cause a flame flare up. While the flame looks cool, when you press down on the burgers or meat you squeeze out fat, and fat equals flavor!  And meat without flavor makes for a boring cookout!

STOP GUESSING IF THE MEAT IS DONE!

Invest in a quality meat thermometer. Ain’t no shame in the game! Have properly cooked meats every time by checking the temperature. Here’s my favorite :https://www.thermoworks.com/Thermapen-Mk4

GIVE YOUR MEAT A BREAK

Let the meat rest! Once you take it off the grill, allow your proteins to rest, tented under foil, for 5-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in deliciously juicy meats.

Are you ready to grill but unsure of how to season your protein?

Give us a shout to order our marinated meats. Our pre-marinated meat comes ready to throw on the grill or in a pan. No guessing if you’ve seasoned well enough, we’ve got your back!

Gather and Enjoy
