Back to Croatia
There are few things that I love as much as preparing amazing meals to bring families together but travelling around the world is definitely one of them. Every trip I take is a melting pot of culture and cuisine. Last year, I traveled to Croatia and it most certainly left me wanting more!
Located in Eastern Europe, this beautiful country sits along the Adriatic Sea. Remnants of the 16th century are everywhere and one can also enjoy Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The walled cities and deep history give way to a food journey like none other. While I couldn’t take any of the gorgeous buildings home with me in my carry on, I made sure to bring some dried lavendar and oil home as souvenirs. The lavendar was fragrant and native to Croatia.
Between the wine, olive oil and seafood this place was made for me. One thing to understand when travelling here is that sharing food and beverages are a major part of the Croatian culture.
I visited many restaurants during my stay here to immerse myself in the culture through their cuisine. Below are
afew that topped my list:
– Chops grill
– Bokeria
– Para di Soto
– Restaurant Brasserie on 7
One of my favorite dishes was the octopus salad! Hmmmm, I am salivating just thinking about the tender octopus that was cooked perfectly so that not one bite was tough.
Then there was the Blitva! If you haven’t had Blitva, you have to add it to your food bucket list! It is a traditional side dish of potato and Swiss chard that was definitely on my list of favorites!!
I could truly talk for days about this trip but I will leave you with a saying…
Jedi! Jedi! Jedi!’
(Eat! Eat! Eat!)
Enjoy!
Gather and Enjoy
Appreciate the ability to enjoy good food, quality conversation
and life's sweetest moments!
