Tips for Simple Thanksgiving Prep
The holidays are a hectic time! Let About the Table make it a little bit easier with a few tips for Thanksgiving!
- Thaw the Turkey
Don’t forget to thaw the turkey days in advance! Let the turkey thaw in the refrigerator (NEVER ON THE COUNTER) 1 day for every 4 pounds. - Prep early!
Whether its setting the table in advance or prepping vegetables the night before. I always peel my potatoes and keep them covered with water in the refrigerator until I’m ready to make my famous Boursin Mashed potatoes! - How big of a bird?
My rule of thumb is 1 1/2 pounds per person. So if you’re having 10 guests for Thanksgiving go with a 15 lb bird! - Hostess gift
If you’re traveling for Thanksgiving, consider a small token of appreciation to gift to your host. Maybe a bottle of wine or a holiday candle. After all they worked so hard to prepare a delicious meal for you and their guests!
